Center for School Engagement

Institute of Living Campus

In 2004, the Institute of Living introduced a treatment program for school avoidance, drawing on the expertise of the Anxiety Disorders Center and the Grace Webb School.

This initial effort has since developed into several programs, including the School Refusal Program, which offers intensive cognitive behavioral therapy through the Anxiety Disorders Center, the Attendance Recovery Program, which employs motivational enhancement techniques through the Webb Schools, and the Credit Recovery Program, also provided by the Webb Schools.

To improve accessibility and streamline the referral process, these services have now been consolidated under the Center for School Engagement, which offers a range of interventions from a single, centralized location.

Mission

  • To help students identify their strengths and utilize their resilience to engage in the academic environment that is appropriate for them.
  • To develop collaborative relationships between students, families, and schools.
